This project took place in Athens from 2008 until 2011. Constantinos took part as a participant and instructor with Elina Axioti of a workshop team that worked as a sub-studio of the the Campana Brothers Studio. The project focused on the redesign and renovation of the Olympic Hotel near Syntagma Square in the heart of Athens. The redesign is borne of an exclusive partnership between the Brothers and Dakis Joannou, owner of YES! Hotels.
The workshop was consisted of a group of 10 young design and architecture professionals provided an important part of the renovation project with an injection of ideas. Under the tutelage of and in collaboration with Fernando and Umberto, the workshop group created furniture, producing samples and prototypes whilst exploring methods and techniques associated with the Campana Brothers philosophy: reusing and reinterpreting local material and culture.
This was the Campana Brother’s first hotel project which opened in late summer 2011. The "ladder chair" which has been produced in 80 pieces features in all the rooms of the hotel, but also the "boxed armchairs" in the restaurant area. The "hanger chair" and "newspaper chair" are showcased as prototypes in areas of the hotel.
