His practice explores the evolving dialogue between concept, craft, and production, reflecting a continuous search for balance between the poetic and the functional. His work investigates how material, memory, and narrative can forge emotional connections between people and objects, grounding design in the lived experience of place and culture. Beginning with early explorations influenced by Droog Design and its conceptual, art-driven approach, Constantinos’s trajectory evolved through collaborations that shaped his design language, notably the project with the Campana Brothers for the redesign of the Olympic Hotel in Athens, which drew from local craft traditions and material culture. Later collaborations, such as with Brian Ward (WEdid-it), introduced a more technical and production-oriented methodology. The formation of DRAW Collective and the Souvenir Project emphasized narratives of heritage, locality, and sustainability, while the&nbsp;ΦΧΨ Heritage Design Collective deepened this dialogue through explorations of topography, identity, and cultural memory. His ongoing collaboration with Daniel Meyer (ME Meyer Economides Design Studio) continues to refine this balance, between aesthetic expression, functional design, and the ethics of production. Constantinos holds an MA in Industrial Design&nbsp;from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London (2005–2007). His work has been exhibited internationally in London, Belgrade, Valencia, Hamburg, and Milan,&nbsp;including Salone Satellite (2006, 2012, 2013) and Valencia Design Week (2011), and has been awarded distinctions such as the D&amp;AD Award and the German Design Award Winner 2018. He has collaborated with leading designers including Michael Sodeau, and has participated in the Boisbuchet Summer Workshops in France, in partnership with the Centre Georges Pompidou and the Vitra Design Museum. In academia, he is a Visiting Lecturer at Frederick University (2008–2018 / 2024-present) and has given talks and presentations at the University of Applied Sciences North Karelia (Finland), the University of Fine Arts, Braunschweig (HBK) (Germany), and the Eastern Mediterranean University (Cyprus). Omiros's work focuses on graphic design, Marina's and Marios's work on interior and prodcut design and Constantinos's on industrial design. Right after the economic crisis hit Cyprus in the spring of 2013, the studio created a collective platform for Cypriot artists and designers to promote and sell their work, who are inspired and create on the island in the fields of music, literature, photography, illustration and graphic design, fashion accessories and furniture design. Collectively they exhibited in a Hamburg gallery from 2014 - 2016 with three Cyprus inspired series, the “DOTing” series (hangers/lamps), “Peep” series (furniture/wall lamps/ container boxes), “Green Line” series (side table/wall lamp/bowl). In 2017, a product designed by Constantinos with literary context by Yianna for their “DOTing”series, was nominated for the German Design Award in the Excellent Product Design category. An anomalous nature dispute of a yellow Morris Minor in the buffer zone and its heritage context “1 border, 2 rusty bumpers, 3759mm yellow bridge”, a contribution for the Humanities Department of The University of Cyprus, in 2018 for their conference on “Borders and Bridges in world Literature and Art”. The “Worship Container”, a proposal of the team for the Larnaka Biennale in 2018 was credited with a Finalists Award. In 2019 their “Scattered Domes”, work for the Almyra and Anassa Hotels in Paphos, is part myth / part design skepticism of 101 churches of the Akamas Peninsula. In the “Berenagaria Project (on Subjection &amp; Defiance)”, where a total of thirty four creatives of various disciplines have been involved in working around the concept of Berengaria of Navarre, the Berengaria Hotel in Prodromos and the Berengaria Camp in Polemidia all seemed linked to similar fates. These exhibits have been displayed in various locations islandwide in public spaces, museums, gallery spaces and coffee shops throughout the summer of 2019, provoking critical thinking and ultimately, resonating with the public, and through the display for the exhibition at the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre - Apothikes Papadakis. ΦΧΨ’s most recent work is “Arch &amp; Pillar is She” reflecting on feminine crafts and gendered realities of the industrial labour force of the German ARCHIV Massiv Museum within the Spinnerei in Leipzig. A cross cultural narrative of the architectural identities of the place, and the cultural heritage of Cyprus internationally, where they collaborated with Hamburg based Cypriot artist Penny Monoyiou and the Cyprus Handicraft Centre. Tragic&nbsp;events happening in Ukraine, Palestine, and other parts of the world&nbsp;have a significant impact on our European social, political, and cultural&nbsp;landscape. Urban segregation is a common issue in most European&nbsp;cities. New communities and people from different social backgrounds,&nbsp;faiths, and ethnicities are often feared and demonized. The continued exclusion and separation of these diverse communities&nbsp;has prevented opportunities for mutual trust and tolerance to develop,&nbsp;creating an environment where nationalism can thrive. Europe, and the&nbsp;world as a whole, are constantly under threat. Unfortunately, reality&nbsp;often surpasses social consciousness, with political, social, and economic turmoil, inequalities, corruption, oppression, exploitation, racism, and&nbsp;xenophobia being prevalent. What is Open Up? A summary of the project: The Open Up project (OU) aimed to explore how culture can help create new forms of&nbsp;community relations in a world that is increasingly divided. Through its various activities, OU&nbsp;provided a strong and sustainable platform for creative synergies, moving away from segregation&nbsp;and towards a more inclusive society. The project focused on developing arts practices&nbsp;among underprivileged communities in six different countries: Cyprus, France, Greece,&nbsp;Sweden, Finland, and Spain. It aimed to unearth talented artists, performers, designers, and craftsmen, with a special focus&nbsp;on young people, from neglected and underprivileged urban environments. To achieve this,&nbsp;the project created six satellite platforms that empower creators to develop their skills, present&nbsp;their works, and create a framework for sustaining their work after the project ends. Additionally,&nbsp;a seventh mobile platform from The Netherlands traveled to the other six countries to creatively explore and share the OU experiences.Thematic and Design Lab project proposal: When refugees arrive in host countries, they face huge challenges in starting their new&nbsp;lives. NGOs and volunteers play a crucial role in helping these refugees meet their needs during the resettlement process. Refugees often struggle to find information, secure&nbsp;employment, and connect with members of the host community. The workshop looked to develop potential products or services of various forms and&nbsp;applications, according to the participants’ skills. The DOT becomes obviously apparent. These perfectly formed round circles emphasising a simplistic DOT in a variety of objects; The calming effect of familiarity to a form is embraced with the painstakingly procedure pursued both in material and in craftsmanship evolving these same items with the simplistic DOT into a dynamic DOTing experience, by the designer, where excessive fondness or love is shown in making them. Yet, Nicosia remains the only divided capital in the world. Growing up within its fragmented landscape, the unseen and unreachable parts of my own city left a quiet scar , a lingering sense of absence and separation. This experience becomes the foundation of the design. The divided map of Nicosia is transformed into the lid of a cylindrical container, an object created to hold cherished possessions, such as jewellery or keepsakes. The container becomes more than a functional object; it is a vessel of memory, reflection, and emotion. Just as the city once held both presence and loss, the object carries its own duality, a place to protect what is precious, while quietly recalling the divisions that shaped a generation.
